America21 Convenes STEM Summit with Key Philadelphia Stakeholders
Philadelphia, PA — Key stakeholders and leaders from education, business and industry, universities and community will convene on Monday, July 16th at The School District of Philadelphia for a Call to Action supporting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in Philadelphia and to discuss a proposal to launch the Philadelphia STEM Innovation Center – a unique public-private partnership STEM education initiative.
Chad Womack, Ph.D., Principal and Managing Director of America21 coordinated the Philadelphia STEM summit and prepared the Call to Action.
“This is a historic moment for the City of Philadelphia, where a gathering of diverse stakeholders including community leaders, universities, informal science institutions, the school district and industry have decided to come together and discuss how they can establish a partnership that will support STEM education in Philadelphia.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for STEM stakeholders to work in partnership with The School District of Philadelphia and design educational interventions that will have a lasting and positive impact on the future of the city, and our nation.
“I am particularly excited about the proposal to establish the Philadelphia STEM Innovation Center as a public-private partnership. I believe these types of approaches that leverage the strengths of both the public and private sector are the way to go in addressing serious challenges facing resource-strapped situations in cities like Philadelphia.”
