Located at Milepost 0 of Tongass Highway in Ketchikan, Trinity Bible College is an evangelical Christian college and seminary that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. The school also offers on-campus living. Trinity Bible College has more than 30 different programs of study to choose from including three associate degrees as well as bachelor’s degrees in ministry studies, business administration and organizational leadership. Students can also earn master’s degrees in biblical counseling or music ministry as well as a doctorate of education. The college was founded in 1966 by Dr. E.C. Buck Buchanan who came to Alaska with his wife, Jeanie, after serving with Campus Crusade for Christ International in Hong Kong and Hawaii. In 1973, Dr. Buchanan opened an extension campus of Columbia Bible College (now Columbia International University) in Ketchikan which he led until his retirement in 1993 when he was succeeded by current president Dr. Richard P. Harris. Under Harris’ leadership, Trinity Bible College has grown from an enrollment of 30 students to more than 200 students today.


The college is accredited by Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools as well as Accrediting Commission International for Schools, Colleges & Universities (ACICS). ACICS is recognized by U.S. Department of Education as a reliable authority regarding accreditation status for colleges and universities throughout North America and internationally.

5) Lousiana College

Founded in 1909, Louisiana College is one of Louisiana’s largest private colleges and has a student body of more than 2,000.
